Scottish Water completes £3m+ infrastructure investment in Greater Glasgow

Scottish Water has completed more than £3.4m of investment in infrastructure in parts of the south of Glasgow and Cambuslang whichis helping to improve the natural environment of watercourses.

The improvement work is part Scottish Water’s major investment in the Greater Glasgow area’s waste water infrastructure announced in February 2013.

The company has completed a number of improvement projects on parts of waste water network in the Corkerhill, Thornliebank, Pollokshaws and Cathcart areas of Glasgow and in Cambuslang to help improve the environment on the White Cart Water and the River Clyde.

The overall £250m investment, the biggest in the Greater Glasgow area’s waste water network in more than a century, will improve river water quality and the natural environment of the River Clyde and its tributaries, enable the area to grow and develop, alleviate sewer flooding and deal with the effects of increased rainfall and climate change.

The work included projects to install new infrastructure such as Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s), powered screens, interconnecting pipework, storage and improved monitoring equipment.

Scottish Water will shortly start work on a further £1.6 million of new infrastructure projects which will be carried out for the firm by contractors George Leslie, who also worked on the completed projects.
